The Cliff Notes Version of this Epic Story
My Daddy bought the 1950 Spartan Royal Mansion new at the showroom in Tulsa, Ok. He was one of those recently returned GI's who thought the future was bright and that a home on wheels was a damn fine idea.
Dad was an associate professor of sociology at the University of Oklahoma at the time. He made $8,000 a year- and spent $4,000 on the trailer. I have often wondered, but never dared ask, exactly how much this contributed to his subsequent divorce.
This trailer has seen plenty of field action. It's been all over the West Coast, where my Dad's people are from. It has been to Canada, Mexico and has crossed the country several times. It spent 25+ years in Texas while my Dad was a tenured professor at the University of Houston.
He took it with him when he retired to Oregon, where it's been cooling it's heels waiting for the rush of the open road.
Meanwhile, back at the Ranch, the youngest daughter (that's me) has decided this story needs a plucky heroine to drive it off on a new round of adventures.
